'Mara' was my first Rough Collie. She was not the most feminine of bitches, being rather over-sized. She unfortunately did not enjoy the show ring, which was possibly more to do with my ignorance, so she lived in the house as a well loved pet. I bred two litters from her and she was a superb mum.

first litter in 1979). Sired by Ch & Aus Ch Little Caesar At Corydon Kia won consistently well for me at Open Show level, despite her wide-set ears! Unfortunately nature never intended her to be a mother and after some difficulties we finally managed to get her in whelp to Ch Lowerpark Izafella. She only produced one puppy, by caesarian section, which I did not keep.

Karibuni Bamburi Breeze - a bitch from Mara's second litter in 1981. Sired by Ch Romadale Rothschild. Bambi was an elegant bitch though was rather shy. She came from a litter of seven, two of which were sadly born blind with CEA despite both parents having been tested clinically 'clear'! I vowed then that, in future, all my puppies would be tested for CEA at the 6-7 week stage. |
